Family member, friend or caregiver

Venketesh, Canada

Lack of clear knowledge, fear of treatment outcomes, financial distress were the major parameters our family experienced extreme distress when we realized one of our immediate family members is a breast cancer patient, and needs surgical removal of breast, chemo and radiotherapy. I want to emphasize, knowledge and experience we try to gather through social media, assured is just a small fraction of vast and diverse experience of millions of people. For common people, it may be hard to distinguish between knowledge and pseudo knowledge as well. Realize, each patient and the way the disease exist, develop, and gets cured under treatment is very unique to them while generalizations hold good in cases. Knowledge from one's care team, and in need, a second and independent assessment of one's health conditions is most reliable over any knowledge you gather from elsewhere. My mother lives out of cancer for more than 16 years now. Wishing her a continued good health, and a best life ahead.

Mistake we did.

We put my mother's illness on top and forgot to live our moments and make it beautiful. I now tend to think, when she was under treatment, after facilitating a comfortable treatment time and time to take rest, we, including my mom should have lived well and made our times the best, not looping back to fearful thoughts.

We compromised our comfort in order to mitigate the society pressure. I would say, never do that. Take good from the society, give good to the society, rest always remember, you want to live the way that makes and keeps you happy and well. Make sure that, that wellbeing is not emerging from unhealthy practices, like smoking.

My mom hasn't gone for cancer screening programs before she was diagnosed. Remember, if you have a chance and screening program is accessible to you, do not hold back. Early identification is always best over late realization.

We did not understand the real values of spiritual teachings. We believed in magics, and miracles happening out of prayers. Realize, prayer gives one tremendous relaxation and peaceful mind if they are trained to, unless may give stress. And such calm mind may improve the treatment outcomes as well. But make sure, prayers if did not meet your expectations, does not shoot stress waves back to you.

Blessings we had.

Beautiful immediate family members and first cousins, and amazing friends. Best care from my mother's care providers. And my mom's braveness.

Hey reader, if you are affected, try to get the best care. Stay away from fears, and partial knowledge. Just do what you have to and never forget to enjoy your life. Disease is just a part of your life, it's not everything.  Good luck follows you.

Hey reader, if you are a disease-free society member, let's do our best to make patients free of society driven stress. Heaven is on earth. Let's work not to spoil it. Let's live in harmony and joy.
