Person living with cancer

Nandlal, India

Nandlal Gupta, from rural Uttar Pradesh, India, is bravely fighting advanced lung cancer, a battle he never expected to face. Diagnosed in 2022, Nandlal's journey has been full of challenges. He had no major symptoms other than a persistent cough, and his shock deepened when he learned that lung cancer had taken hold, despite never having smoked or drunk alcohol. Coming from a modest financial background, Nandlal's health crisis has placed an immense strain on his family.

Before his illness, Nandlal worked hard selling goods door-to-door, but now he is unable to continue due to his health. To make ends meet, he opened a small shop near his home, but the cost of cancer treatment has overwhelmed his finances. Although he has received support from Lung Connect India Foundation, the ongoing medical expenses continue to weigh heavily on him. With a 3-year-old son and a wife to care for, Nandlal is understandably anxious about their future.

Nandlal shares his story not just for himself, but to highlight the plight of many others in India who face similar challenges. In a country where financial instability often limits access to essential healthcare, many cancer patients are unable to afford the life-saving treatment they need. Nandlal urges others to help those in need, as every person battling cancer deserves a chance to live. His strength and determination are inspiring, and his plea for help is a call to action for all of us.
