Maryam, Egypt
I have always had a deep passion for voluntary work, believing it plays a vital role in building stronger and better communities. Therefore, I did not hesitate to volunteer at Baheya Foundation to support women bravely battling breast cancer.
My name is Maryam. I had the privilege of being a member of Light and Hope Orchestra for the blind. In 2021. we organized a charity concert to honor mothers battling breast cancer at Baheya Foundation. This was my first time hearing about this remarkable institution.
During the concert, I met a patient whose story deeply inspired me, leading me to volunteer at the foundation.
Initially, my involvement was limited to providing support to patients through music. However, I quickly realized that I could contribute more. I suggested to the foundation's administrators that we organize art and music therapy sessions, enabling patients to express their emotions and alleviate the psychological stress associated with their illness, regardless of their artistic abilities.
As a visually impaired individual, I deeply understand the challenges these women face and feel a strong connection with them. I offer them support and positive energy, and they do the same for me.
I am incredibly grateful to be able to support these courageous women and make their journey with cancer a little easier.
