Cancer turned my world upside down when I lost my Mum.

When she was first diagnosed in 2015 I knew I wanted to give something back to those who were providing her care, Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, UK.

I created a fundraising evening called Chords Crush Cancer and raised over £1,000. The night was such a success, I felt motivated to do it again.

Sadly Mum passed away after my 2nd event in 2017 which was simply heartbreaking and took me a while to recover from, she was such a kind, caring, loving and inspirational woman.

I decided to continue fundraising in her memory and in February 2024, Chords Crush Cancer went past £22,000 raised in her memory. This coincidence with the launch of my self published book, ‘Memories of Margaret’ which details life growing up with Mum, what a wonderful woman she was and my fundraising journey in her memory.

The event consists of live music, raffle and charity auction where celebrities and sports personalities have donated items for people to bid on. Our highest lot to date was over £800 for a hand painted, signed Shrewsbury Town football shirt.

I want my events to help those suffering with cancer, support to those who are recovering and ultimately to inspire the next generation of fundraisers.

We will be back in 2026 with the aim of going past £25,000 raised. What an incredible legacy that would be for Mum to leave behind.
