My caregiving journey began in February 2023 when my husband was unexpectedly diagnosed with stage 3C rectal cancer following his first screening colonoscopy. At that time, our two children were 11 and 13, with each making the transition to middle and high school in the middle of his treatment.

I sought out resources to support each of us, but found many caregiver support resources focused on caring for aging family members or were offered during the work day, while most of the resources for kids were geared towards younger children rather than tweens and teens.

 In November 2024, I created the website https://www.lavenderlicoriceandthyme.org in the hope that by sharing our experiences and resources we found helpful, we can help others in similar circumstances.
