Cancer care is a so complex journey that requires the collaboration of many specialties, but at its core, trust is what holds everything together. When my wife was referred to a tumor board, we expected it to provide clarity and reassurance about her treatment plan. Instead, we were met with a whirlwind of technical jargon and disjointed communication. I often found myself playing the role of a mediator, making endless phone calls just to ensure everyone was on the same page. Patients and caregivers deserve to feel included, supported, and informed throughout the patient pathway process. Trust is built when care teams communicate openly and work together seamlessly, making the patient truly feel like a valued part of the team.
