You are not alone
Family member, friend or caregiver

Hamizah, Malaysia

When I was 10, I lost my mother to breast cancer. Before that, I witnessed her illness up close and helped care for her in the ways I could as a child. There were many moments when I wished things had been different.

Behind every cancer diagnosis is a family trying to navigate difficult decisions, just like we did. I believe that access to the right information and support—delivered in a way that is culturally sensitive and meaningful—can truly change lives. Understanding and respecting diverse beliefs and ways of seeking care can help ensure that more people make informed decisions about their health.

This World Cancer Day, I carry her memory with me as I work towards a future where everyone has the knowledge, care, and support they need. We all have different experiences, but we are #UnitedByUnique in our hope for better cancer care for all.
