Fatiha’s story reveals the importance of family support in the cancer journey. The more your family and surroundings are supportive, the better your ability to cope with and handle the journey will be. Financial toxicity can impact not only the patient, but also their family members. Some women may find themselves vulnerable and unable to afford treatment costs. It is a source of relief to have someone assist in these circumstances. From a person who used to believe that cancer equated death to a more motivated and determined person, Fatiha managed to control and transform her fear to accept the diagnosis and tolerate treatment. While she experienced ups and downs in the process, her decision to join NABD-BC2 Association allowed her to embrace , positivity and find psychological support in the group. This highlights the critical need for adopting holistic approaches which address the body, soul and mind. It also underscores the vital role of NGOs in patient awareness and education, and in creating a supportive community for people living with cancer.
