Throughout my life, I have believed that God's plan is always for the best, whatever may happen to me or my children. I have always been firm and faithful. I discovered my illness in 2020 when I felt a lump under my arm. I spoke with a pharmacist I know, and she advised me to go to Baheya Hospitals and Centers for an examination. Indeed, my daughter booked an appointment for me, and I went and underwent all the necessary tests, through which I discovered that I had breast cancer.
At that time, I did not feel sad, and I was at peace with my situation. I believed that whatever God has written for me, I must be content with it, and in the end, it is all for the best. Within two weeks, I underwent a total mastectomy, followed by radiotherapy, and then hormonal treatment.
Ironically, the illness was one of the best things that happened to me because it made me rediscover myself. I am uneducated, and during my treatment period at Baheya, I learned that the psychological support department offers literacy courses. I participated in them and succeeded with distinction, and this made me open up to the world and be able to communicate with people more effectively. This helped me overcome many obstacles caused by illiteracy.
In addition, I participated in psychological support sessions that were very helpful to me during the treatment period, and through which I was able to share my experience with fellow fighters and specialists, and I felt that I was not alone.
