Notice :
This is an in-person workshop gathering a group of cancer patients and survivors. The workshop will be facilitated by Dr Wadih Rhondali, a psychatrist, psychologist and researcher specialized in assisting cancer patients. Dr Rhondali will present and walk attendees through the process of creating a strong support network which will help them effectively manage the cancer journey.
The workshop will also provide attendees with the opportunity to express themselves and freely interact with others. This resonates with NABD-BC2's commitment to amplify patients' voices and contribute to the improvement of their quality of life.
Though united by the experience of cancer, each story is unique. Despite hardships and moments of despair, a support network offers a glimmer of hope and promotes well-being.
Description:
NABD-BC2 marked World Cancer Day 2025 with an impactful workshop for cancer patients and survivors. The session was facilitated by Dr. Wadih Rhondali, a psychiatrist, psychologist, and researcher with extensive expertise in supporting cancer patients. Dr. Rhondali guided participants through the process of building a strong support network, helping them manage their cancer journeys with greater resilience.
Ms. Ikram Eseghir, president of NABD-BC2 Association, started the activity with a brief introduction to the association. She introduced the mission and work of NABD-BC2, emphasizing the importance of patient support.
Dr. Rhondali led an interactive session where participants had the opportunity to introduce themselves and share their unique cancer experiences. This open exchange covered emotional challenges, acceptance of illness, personal feelings, and practical issues like nutrition and relationships. There was also a "free expression" session where attendees could speak freely about their journeys, allowing for a deeper connection among the group. Some patients were even able to sing during this session as part of an ice-breaking activity, adding a sense of lightness and camaraderie.
Additionally, a visualization exercise was conducted to help participants focus on their mental well-being and create positive imagery for the future.
The workshop concluded with a light and nourishing buffet of juice, fruits, and healthy cookies. Participants expressed their gratitude, feeling relieved and empowered by the experience, and many requested more future workshops. This workshop exemplified NABD-BC2’s commitment to amplifying patients’ voices and contributing to their overall well-being, proving that, even in difficult times, a strong support network can bring hope, strength, and healing.
NABD-BC2 extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Wadih Rhondali and Nakhil Oncology Center for their invaluable support in making this workshop a success. Their expertise, along with the contributions of the NABD-BC2 bureau members and participants, has helped create a supportive and empowering environment for cancer patients and survivors.
